The more I read Live Sky star charts for people, the more I’m discovering how a person’s Lunar Mansion (or nakshatra) confirms or mirrors their Ascendant. This is important, because your Lunar Mansion is the house of the gods or rishis or cosmic sages where the fruits of your labours over many lifetimes are stored. In other words, in knowing your Lunar Mansion, you know your karma and your chosen destiny on this human journey on Earth.

Your Ascendant or rising sign is determined by which constellation was on the eastern horizon at the day and time of your birth, and from that we get information about your psyche. It is about what subconsciously drives you in your everyday life, and the style you adopt in dealing with the differing circumstances and challenges that you face on your path. Some astrologers refer to the Ascendant as the Maitre D or ‘front of house’ that orchestrates your modus operandi.

And so what I’m finding is that it’s almost as if your Ascendant knows your destiny, stored in your Lunar Mansion, and is providing you with the tools and techniques in your psyche to achieve it.

The Sun and Moon signs are not irrelevant, and so I do go into that too, in my readings, and about which planets were in attendance at the time of your birth. But the Sun and Moon signs are more just about the personality. I feel that most of us are old enough by now to know our own personalities and don’t need an astrologer to tell us. That said, Live Sky (aka sidereal) astrology will likely give you a different Sun and Moon sign to the one you thought you were born under, so I’m happy to explain that new information.

But the knowledge of Lunar Mansions can be dated as far back as the Vedas, in which they are mentioned, dated to about 5,000 years ago. The Moon calendars were the original zodiacs. The decision to divide the constellations into twelve, and follow the Sun through them, only came much later.

Only a knowledge of Vedic mythology will reveal the qualities of the gods and goddesses that inhabit each Lunar Mansion, and thus the challenges you’ll be facing, which I have.
