I’ve started to learn how to mix and master my own tracks, and so I thought using my personal experience would be a good place to begin, with the first track, and this is the result.
I wanted to capture the flavour of a shamanic ceremony of an indigenous tribe, and so I’ve used my own voice for the chanting. It does sound a little rough round the edges, but I’d just come out of a trance one night, and that song was forcing its way up from my voicebox. I was going to go back and re-record it, the next day, to make it sound a bit more professional, but then I got the intuition to leave it.
I’ve also used my own shamanic drumming (with the help of some congas) and my rattling of the gourd. Then I added in a few bits and pieces to add to the atmospherics (called samples and loops) and here’s the result, TRIBE. I hope you like it.
