One of the aspects of the Divine Feminine is Lilith and well, what can we say about Lilith…she’s not very pretty? Actually, her refusal to brush her hair and put on her lipstick are the least of the problems that she has caused to man, and I mean ‘man’, on this occasion, in the sense of the male of the species.
I believe it was the mythological behaviour of Lilith that was used as justification for the patriarchy to stamp its authority over religion and thus, world affairs, and for a new story (and from their point of view, better story) to be told to the human race about who we are and where we come from ~ in the same way that the early farmers, around the same time in the Neolithic, used breeding techniques to turn the aurochs into much easier to manage cows.
The goddess Ishtar, who was the goddess of war and love to the Babylonians, was later on split down the middle by the conquering Greeks, and her war aspect was given to Mars and her love aspect to Venus. That Venus can only love in a certain way, without the necessary war aspect, is a metaphor for what women are expected to be today.
This has all served to effectively dumb down the Lilith aspect of our personalities, not just in women but also in men, although it is how this has impacted on women that I want to deal with here. We’re no longer allowed to express Lilith, and the penalties for doing so are manifold.
Dumbed down Lilith is writ large in a lot of television programming, such as The Real Housewives of Orange County, which may as well be called Stepford Wives With Bling. The Housewives in the title is a bit of a joke, seeing as few of them have never so much as picked up a vegetable knife. They are women that are married to millionaires, often multi-millionaires, and they have had to sell out their Lilith side to the point of caricature.
The bodies of these ‘housewives’ are honed, manicured and sculpted to perfection by Michelangelos of surgeons who, instead of extracting a masterpiece like David from the material supplied, have produced sets of near-identical Barbie dolls.
Something has happened to their voice registers too… I’m not sure how this has been achieved, but they sound like chipmunks. And they can’t speak properly. I don’t know why they can’t seem to pronounce their As, but they say ‘thenk you!”, and their conversation seems to be limited to known and recognised call signs such as “Oh wow! Look at you! Don’t you look great!” while their Botoxed faces are frozen in expressions of complete disinterest.
How to become one of these millionnaire’s wives is all explained in the programme which follows the Real Housewives: Millionaire Matchmaker (ITV2, weekdays, 5.00 pm), where we’re taught how to attract a millionnaire, how to go out on a first date with a millionaire (“only two glasses of wine”, and “no sex before monogamy”).
Basically it seems to be an exercise in keeping your legs closed in order to show that you’re nothing like the other cheap ‘hos this guy has been hanging out with, and that if he wants to get into your knickers, he’s going to have to sell his freedom for it. In this way, in one easy step, you then go from Whore to Madonna in this guy’s eyes, and he decides to worship you by offering you all his worldly goods. I’ve actually watched a few of these programmes now, and so I’m good and ready to go out on my first date with a millionaire. Trouble is, if Lilith decides to come too, all bets will be off!
I don’t mean to be horrible to these ladies. I’m sure some of them are very nice people. They certainly do do a lot for “cherity”…well, they don’t have anything else to do…ok, I’ll stop now! I just wanted to go to the other end of the spectrum, to exaggerate to make the point. And although I’m kidding around a bit, it is a deadly serious matter because I believe now is the time, for me anyway, to re-member my Lilith side.
In dumbing down Lilith, we are allowing that part of us that will stand and fight to protect the tribe to be sent to sleep. So that when the tribe is being threatened, like now, all we can so is just turn the other beautifully blushered cheek, as the Romans programmed us to do, or create a hypnotic state of inertia among the rest of the tribe with useless platitudes containing the words ‘love’ or ‘light’.
Love doesn’t have to always be nice to be love. Love can manifest is many different ways. The Greeks had more than 30 words of love, each one reflecting a different kind. Today, we just have the one word ‘love’ and it’s used to sell everything from insurance and life-time mortgages to holidays and energy supplies. It has become diluted to the point of meaningless.
So it’s time for that Lilith energy to arise. She doesn’t take prisoners, as you can see from the skulls around the neck of Kali, her Indian version.
Lilith is misunderstood by those of the patriarchs who were called the Jews to be a demon. That’s how she got such a bad press. She’s not a demon. She’s a force of nature and sometimes into every life, a little rain must fall. She is a spirit, in other words. In Akkadian, ‘lili’ or ‘lillitu’ meant ‘spirit’.
She can cause problems, but only when she is suppressed. In this case she becomes, as they say in the Tarot, ‘ill-disposed’, and then we reap her whirlwind.
The spectre of the evil wife/mother Lilith is fairly recent and stems, I believe, from the medieval Jewish folk story in which Lilith is Adam’s first wife in the Garden of Eden. She refuses to become subservient to him (which would have been enough to get her drummed out of Millionaire Matchmaker!) and she ends up leaving Adam for an Archangel, Samael ~ not quite the Puerto Rican pool attendant, but at least as shocking to rabbinic Jews.
It is thought that she is mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls, but I think this is a mistranslation by literalists, and that ‘lili’ or ‘lilitu’ is meant in the more generic sense. This is from Songs of the Sage, fragment 1:
And I, the Instructor, proclaim His glorious splendour so as to frighten and to te[rrify] all the spirits of the destroying angels, spirits of the bastards, demons, Lilith, howlers, and [desert dwellers…] and those which fall upon men without warning to lead them astray from a spirit of understanding and to make their heart and their […] desolate during the present dominion of wickedness and predetermined time of humiliations for the sons of lig[ht], by the guilt of the ages of [those] smitten by iniquity – not for eternal destruction, [bu]t for an era of humiliation for transgression.
In any case, as my bolding shows, the whole passage demonstrates the patriarchal thinking of the Solar Priesthood who brought in patriarchal religion. They didn’t know, neither did they care, that the destroying angels are needed at times, as is the dark ~ otherwise, how would we sleep and dream and how would seeds germinate? And I think the ‘era of humiliation’ for some supposed transgression is well and truly over for mankind and womankind.
Actually a lot of the New Age propensity for ‘love and light’ stems exactly from this patriarchal, guilt-driven, Solar Priesthood, Judaeo-Christian tradition which supplanted the Serpent. It doesn’t allow in the dark, the feminine, the negative…. only the positive, the light, the male. The feminine is dark but she is no less lovely, even when she is cursing and smiting and biting the heads off the enemies of her tribe. In any case, you need both for balance, as in the Chinese system of yin and yang. Sometimes you need the Sun; sometimes you need the Moon, or the Queen of the Night.

Ladies, in short, it is my view that this is the time to get tooled up and fight the good fight. They may have tried to cow us into submission, but we still have Lilith’s auroch spirit in all of us and if we call on her, she will arrive. I don’t mean that we literally take the streets. In fact, I think taking the streets would be a huge mistake. But getting in touch with our Lilith side will allow us to not be afraid to speak our truth as we know it as and when we need to, and in this way, we will be able to protect the tribe ~ the common good ~ against those that are doing their level best to destroy it.
About me and my work
Hello, I’m Annie Dieu-Le-Veut and I write books on shamanism, Earth magic, the Grail Mysteries, the spirit of Sovereignty and sacred sexuality. I also decode ancient myths to show how they are actually the vessels or arks of our ancestors sailing the seas of Time and containing, deep in their submarinal holds, precious messages about our innate holographic relationship to eternal astrological and alchemical cycles which drive each of us along our life’s path.
Once we understand the substance of the messages our ancestors left for us thousands of years ago, we can realise the value and meaning of human life and finally know what to do with it.
The Grail Mysteries: Sovereignty and shamanic sex magic
The Bright World of the Gods: A real faery tale from the mists of Avalon
Stories in the Stars: What our ancestors were trying to tell us.
How to read my books
If you’re thinking of getting one or more of my books, can I give you a bit of a steer? There are two ways to receive my teachings, and each augments the other.
If you wish to go down the fictional route, and become inspired in your dreams and imagination by the coded magical keys, symbols and metaphors hidden in mytho-poetic romantic adventures, I suggest that you read The Bright World of the Gods first, and then The Grail Mysteries. They are actually the first two books of a trilogy, although they work great as standalones too. I haven’t written the third in the series yet.
However, if you feel you need some help with unravelling the meanings of the symbols and metaphors found in ancient myths, my theoretical works are straightforward accounts that explain these Mysteries teachings in plain language.
Reclaiming Sovereignty is largely about the historical and mythological evidence, going back thousands of years, for the practice of shamanic sex magic, otherwise known as the Marriage of the Sun and the Moon, which brought wisdom and enlightenment to the newly-crowned king on the night of his coronation. There is also a step-by-step guide for practising it yourself.
In Stories in the Stars, you’ll learn that ancient myths are like Trojan horses carrying our ancestors’ voices and wisdom that they hid in astrological and alchemical metaphors which, once I’ve taught you how to decode them, will help you to transform and reincarnate into your own life today.
